Paracetamol
Indications/Uses
To relieve fever that comes together w/ flu & post-vaccination fever; relieve mild pain eg, headache, toothache.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Syr Childn 6 yr 10 mL, 4-5 yr 7.5 mL, 2-3 yr 5 mL, 1-2 yr 3.75 mL. Oral drops Childn 2-3 yr 1.6 mL, 10-24 mth 1.2 mL, 3-9 mth 0.8 mL. All doses are given 3-4 times daily w/ 4-hr min interval & max 4 times in 24 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hepatic function disorder & active hepatic disease.
Special Precautions
Not recommended for childn <2 mth & to consume w/ other drugs containing paracetamol. Patients taking warfarin. Seek medical assistance if fever persists after 2 days & pain continues >3 days, or if rash occurs.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, headache, trouble sleeping.
